Vasectomy

If you thought having a vasectomy was dangerous or would interfere with your sex life, think again. A vasectomy is one of the easiest and most proven methods of birth control there is. Once you have undergone this simple procedure, you no longer have to worry about an unwanted pregnancy. In most cases, a man who has undergone a vasectomy enjoys sex even better as he no longer has to worry about birth control.

Vasectomies were first used at the latter part of the 19th century. The surgical procedure involves cutting the tubes that deliver sperm to the penis. If you undergo a vasectomy, you will still be able to ejaculate, but you will no longer be able to father a child. Your semen will contain no sperm.

Today, a vasectomy is one of the most popular methods of birth control for men. Unlike birth control pills for women, there are no side effects from this procedure. Many insurance companies even pay for the procedure, which is done right inside of a clinic or in the office of your physician.

A vasectomy requires only a local anesthetic. There is some swelling after the operation and your physician will prescribe proper pain medication, but this is very short lived. After the procedure, you will have your semen tested for sperm.

It is very, very rare that a vasectomy fails. The only failures are those in which the man did not follow directions and did not have his semen tested. The vasectomy procedure is the most reliable form of birth control that there is, even more reliable than the birth control pill, which has a success rate of over 90 percent.

If you do not want any more children and do not want to have to worry about the burden of an unplanned pregnancy, treat yourself to a vasectomy. It is well worth the time and effort to have this procedure done.
